TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — March Madness is taking over a Valley aquarium, all thanks to some friendly seahorses!

This week, a herd of Lined seahorses at the SEA LIFE Arizona Aquarium, located inside the Arizona Mills mall, tried their fins at predicting the winner of the NCAA Men’s Final Four matchups. Employees placed the Final Four teams — Duke, Houston, Auburn and Florida — on plastic pipes and embedded them into the exhibit sand.

The seahorses were then tasked with predicting who would move on to the NCAA Championship. After some unsure back-and-forth decisions, the seahorses wrapped their tails around the Houston Cougars and Auburn Tigers pipes, selecting them to move on to the championship!

So, who did the friendly creatures choose in the end to cut down the nets? The curious seahorses wavered between Houston and Auburn, taking their sweet time.

Ultimately, the seahorses selected Auburn to take it all!

SEA LIFE Arizona is home to the Temple of the Seahorse exhibit, where guests can visit the three species of seahorse — Lined, Potbellied and Tiger Tail — gliding through nearly 400 gallons of water.
